Survivors of childhood cancer are not at higher risk for children with birth defects, suggests a new study.

Study of the 1,128 children 4,699 1,627 men and women who are five years of childhood cancer survivors found no increased risk of birth defects — even if cancer patients have been exposed to radiation from the testes or ovaries or chemotherapy involving DNA damage. < style "the right" = "image width: 222px" says

For the children of mothers who were exposed to radiation or chemotherapy versus those who do not have cancer as children, the prevalence of birth defects is three percent vs. 3.5 percent. For the children of men with childhood cancer, prevalence was 1.9 percent versus 1.7 percent. These differences are not seen as significant by the authors of clinical.

"Childhood cancer survivors face the real problems of reproduction, including unknown with regard to the therapeutic effect," said lead author Lisa Signorello, Professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, in a release. "Hopefully this study will provide some assurance that their children may be at increased risk for a genetic defect that originated from their earlier treatment."

"I was looking all week to live chickens," said Drysdale, 44, from the Wausau. "But I'll be honest, I was relieved to get the email it's a joke.

But the joke is not far from the target. Those who participated in Saturday's second annual charity race 6 miles around Wausau must dance, Bowl, play basketball, discovered outlines of lime and take pictures of themselves with dead fish in addition to running.

More on the extreme race in Wisconsin: Blogger helmet cameras in the debut of Warrior Dash

"it started out as just a run. I was talking with a friend, and we thought it would be nice to have the November run on and call it ' the Turkey trot. Then we thought it would be fun to run with Turkey. Then we thought it would be nice to Turkey Bowl, and it's just spinning from there, "said race organiser Mark Hall.

At first glance, working on a new exhibition in the gallery below of Manhattan may just look like blown-up satellite images from Google Earth, but a closer look

"Every one of these maps built using infinite perspective projection Ambroziak patented projection, projection first that allows a map to show the world and even beyond, as Mars in 3D is right," said artist Jerry Ambroziak. "Unlike most 3D projection which limits the view point of the Viewer, map allows one to move in, move, move around without any visible distortion while still allowing it to pop into true 3D right in front of You."

Most of the images are aerial photography provided by the United States Government. They feature places that have been, Ambroziak places that have touched him, and, as the name of the exhibition shows, where he will be remembered.

And while all of the images is very cool to see, there are also other potential uses for technologies outside the art world.

"The one that government agencies first to show an interest in this technology is a United States air force and their interests how projection can be used to prepare our pilots maneuvers is low," said Ambroziak.

Cartoon Wars Gunner: + is the latest to hit different Gamevil games Android, developed by Blue G

The game tells a simple story in cartoon wars. It's all the info you get, and all the info you need to make the game, which consists of increasing the arena fights in which your goal is to kill all the cartoons before they kill you. The focus of the game is run and shoot, with occasional special abilities thrown in, such as health or recovery from raining fireballs. After each level, You collect gold and spend it on a large variety of weapons or the stats upgrade. The game started off quite slow, but once you get used to the speed and the enemies get tight, it's been a lot of fun.

I don't like the lack of direction in the game. You don't always see the effect of your upgrade, and may be wasting money on an upgrade that doesn't matter. This can lead to You being stuck on a level, grinding out small pieces of gold at a time when you are trying to overcome the difficulties of the wall You inadvertently created. You can always start a new game in a save different slot if it would be too bad, but most managed if you focus on weapons and health upgrades over everything else. Also, there are many different Save slots, but you must enable them via the options menu. Just thought You should know.

2D art style is simple, yet interesting. The game sports a techno soundtrack is good if You like techno, but very repetitive and seemingly out of place. After a number of levels, You will switch to a different environment with new music, adding some variety. The game is completely free, supports in-app purchases of gold for an extra boost. This is really going to take you long to grind through everything in the game if the early pace keeps up, and while buying gold would be nice, it is not necessary. However, there is no harm in trying this one out for yourself. Ask for a big war and changed the face of cartoon cartoon world as we know it.

New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast can find something funny in almost all-most notably the Queen of evil a midlife crisis.

In Chast's "down the drain but realistic Queen," the Queen asked, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, which, if he lost 10 pounds and has effected and his neck was done, and have the right hair, could, in the age group, being the fairest of all?"

Will discuss his work Saturday Chast in Wheeler Auditorium in Berkeley in the presentation Cal performances. It is a events not to miss: The New Yorker's editor, David Remnick, is called Chast "magazine only certifiable genius."

Sometimes a Chast begins with doodle, but usually the words come first. His unique images showing people who embarrass their kids and worried about the future. Who do not sympathize with "The Little Engine that woulda Coulda Shoulda Woulda thought it"?

Some ideas come directly from their own suburban backyard. His book, "Theories of Everything: selected, collected and reviewed the health cartoon Roz Chast, 1978-2006" including "Dog Day Afternoon," a two-page spread is inspired by Emmy Lou-Sue bull terrier owned by his family for six days in length.

"It's really terrible time," he said. "In retrospect, that was funny."

Chast grew up in an apartment in Brooklyn and likes drawing interior. Her Nightmare, she said, it would be interesting scene in the forest.

"You have some sort of bank image in your mind," he said. "For me, it's furniture and knick-knacks. I like drawing and light television back. "

He studied graphic design and painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. Two years after college, he was the first cartoon appeared in The New Yorker. Since then, the magazine has published more than 500 pictures of her. Today, he proposed an eight-week; the rejection put forward in his studio, perhaps to reworked later.

He recently published the book "What I hate: from a to Z" focuses on "the things that annoyed me around the edges." He doesn't like quicksand or premature burial. The same applies to the balloon, which can pop in at any time.

Chast, 56, who lives in Connecticut with his family and Bayan, Eli and Marco. He is currently working on a graphic memoir about the last years of his life. A woman of many talents, he also mastered the art of pysanky earnest (Easter eggs Ukraine) and recently learned to hook rugs.

On Saturday, he will discuss the evolution of the style of a picture, sign a copy of the book and answer questions from the audience.

"I hope they will find it funny," he said.

When the kids hop on Santa's list is extensive, with one worker said she tried to explain that Santa doesn't bring it all, he said the attitude of the parents is often appreciated.

"I tried to guide the children to be not so things that are unrealistic, and tell them that Santa is cutting back too," Tom to timesRuperd.

While Santa may be able to help children lower expectations during the Christmas season, the parent is responsible throughout the rest of the year.

"We live in a culture that encourages kids to get all they can," psychologist Lynne Namka says Psychology Center. "It's happening all year round, but especially visible during the holidays.

SAN DIEGO

Peter Jackson knew he was a non-American when it comes to Tintin because he has known her since before she could read, and the character's running world adventure is part of the story's own DNA.

Together, the two winners of the Academy Award for film-makers are hoping to accomplish something that escapes from the Belgium artist and author Hergé in Tintin books: a place for heroes in North America.

"The Adventures of Tintin," directed by Spielberg and produced by Jackson, there is already a global blockbuster, approaching $ 250 million at the box office worldwide as it heads to U.S. theatres December 21, two months after it began rolling to the cinema abroad.

This is the opposite of the old patterns of egocentric Hollywood, where a film like Spielberg's "Jaws" will start its work in the country and trickled out to the rest of the world months later.
